Palantir's settlement with London's policing office has not restored its proposed £50 million contract with the Metropolitan Police, the BBC reported. The two-year software deal remains blocked, but the company can bid when procurement is rerun.
The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime, known as MOPAC, and Palantir issued a joint statement on October 14 announcing the settlement of their High Court dispute. Neither side had paid the other, and both would cover their own legal costs, according to the mayor's office.
The joint statement said the decision to block the deal was not based on Palantir's values or ethics. MOPAC acknowledged that an earlier statement from the mayor's spokesman could have created that impression and said it had no policy against contracting with the company.
The office attributed its decision to its legal duty to scrutinize spending proposals and ensure value for money. It is working with the Met to rerun the procurement.
