President Donald Trump criticized the Houthis on October 13, 2026, and confirmed speaking with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, while declining to say what he had offered him. CNN carried the exchange with reporters.

Asked whether he had decided to strike the Houthis, Trump said they were “behaving very badly.” Asked about the Saudi conversation and what he had offered, he replied: “I’d love to tell you, but I’m not going to tell you that.”

Earlier that day, CNN reported that the Houthis had claimed responsibility for attacks on Saudi airports and other targets in the kingdom.

In a clip included in that earlier broadcast, U.N. spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure must stop. He urged the parties to exercise restraint in Yemen and prevent further escalation.
