President Donald Trump proclaimed Oct. 2, 2026, as National Manufacturing Day in a White House proclamation released that day. The proclamation says it is honoring American manufacturing workers and calling on Americans to celebrate entrepreneurs, innovators and workers in the industry.
In the proclamation, Trump says he has imposed tariffs to protect American workers and businesses from unfair trade practices and says that has helped drive what he calls a reshoring of American manufacturing and stronger demand for Made in America products.
The proclamation also says the administration has secured more than $11.2 trillion in U.S. and foreign investments across manufacturing, critical infrastructure and technology. It says 112,000 new factory construction workers have been building since Trump returned to office.
The proclamation further says 72,000 manufacturing jobs had been added in 2026 so far. It also points to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, saying the law allows manufacturers to immediately expense 100% of certain factory, machinery, equipment and domestic research and development investments.
