President Donald Trump proclaimed October 2026 as National Energy Dominance Month in a White House presidential action dated Oct. 7, 2026.
In the proclamation, Trump said his administration has opened millions of acres of federal land for oil, gas and coal production and approved over 6,000 drilling permits, which he described as more than in any year in over a decade.
The proclamation also says the administration secured what it called a majority-control agreement over more than 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves in Venezuela last month. Trump framed the month as part of a broader push for American energy dominance and said the work is not finished.
