U.S. natural gas gross withdrawals reached a record 137 billion cubic feet per day in July 2026, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s latest Natural Gas Monthly.
EIA said the increase was driven primarily by the Permian Basin, with new wells coming online in Texas and New Mexico leading the July record. Gross withdrawals in those two states rose by a combined 1.7 billion cubic feet per day, or 3.2%, from June to July.
EIA also said gross withdrawals were up in Louisiana, Oklahoma and North Dakota in July, each by more than 0.1 billion cubic feet per day. The agency said July 2026 also set all-time records for marketed production and dry gas production.
