Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized President Donald Trump’s decision to allow Russian diesel exports on Friday, October 9, calling it “a weak decision by strong partners,” according to Interfax-Ukraine.
Zelenskyy argued that the exports would give Moscow more money to wage war against Ukraine. He said Trump reached the arrangement in a phone call with Vladimir Putin while Ukrainian and U.S. negotiators were meeting in Florida.
He said he believed Ukraine’s team was being used as a “smokescreen” and described the treatment as unfair between partners.
The Ukrainian president said his delegation expected two days of discussions seeking an end to the war, or at least a ceasefire. An energy ceasefire could be a starting point, he said.
