The Federal Trade Commission plans to distribute more than $15.8 million to Cleo AI customers, with PayPal payments beginning October 27, 2026. The program covers 2,124,796 customers who paid for eligible instant cash advances.

Eligible recipients will receive an email by October 26. Once a PayPal payment arrives, the FTC says it should be redeemed within 30 days.

In its March 2025 complaint against the cash advance app, the FTC alleged that Cleo promised advances much larger than customers typically received. It also alleged that the company charged hidden fees for instant or same-day advances that often arrived the following day and made subscriptions difficult to cancel.

For questions about a payment, the agency directs customers to refund administrator Rust Consulting Inc. at 877-788-4958 or the refund-process FAQs on the FTC website.

The FTC says recipients do not have to pay money or provide account information to receive a refund.
