Google opened preorders for the Fitbit Edge fitness tracker on October 12 at $179.99 through its online store and retail partners. The company says the device will reach store shelves on October 27.

A Stephen Curry Special Edition is priced at $219.99. Purchases include three months of Google Health Premium, the company said.

Google calls Edge its first repairable fitness tracker. Its modular internal design includes a replaceable battery. The company also lists built-in GPS for tracking routes without a phone and more than 50 exercise modes users can start from their wrists, alongside Google Maps, media controls and call and message notifications.

Separately, Google says updated automatic activity detection will arrive later this month for Fitbit Edge, Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch 3, 4 and 5. It is designed to identify more than 100 activities, including swimming, strength training and team sports.

The automatic logging feature uses a minimum duration threshold, 15 minutes by default, and a sustained elevated heart rate. Google says a workout summary is typically sent to the mobile app within 30 minutes.
