The Trump administration has asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign as U.S. ambassador to Greece, White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia said, according to an October 13, 2026, BBC report.

Guilfoyle denied wrongdoing in a Tuesday post on X and said she would defend her name and reputation, the BBC reported.

Trump told reporters she had done a good job but would not continue as ambassador. He said he disliked what he had read and had not spoken with Guilfoyle before she was asked to resign.

The allegations concern a request for money to pay a credit card bill in exchange for access to the administration. The BBC said messages it had seen, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, appeared to show Guilfoyle seeking money from Trump ally Eric Deters.

Her lawyers disputed the messages’ authenticity and said she sought fees owed for speeches and consulting work for Deters before becoming ambassador. Deters told the BBC he had not paid Guilfoyle and denied owing her those fees.
