NASA will outline its Artemis III plans and progress toward returning American astronauts to the Moon at a briefing on Friday, October 23, at 2 p.m. EDT. The agency announced the event on October 14 and will hold it at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Artemis III is planned to send four astronauts to low Earth orbit in 2027 to test systems needed for later lunar landings. That orbital test is distinct from NASA's goal of returning astronauts to the lunar surface by 2028; the briefing will address progress toward that goal.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, Associate Administrator Amit Kshatriya and Artemis program manager Jeremy Parsons are scheduled to take part. Viewers can find online viewing information through NASA Live.
